Meet the Coaches

Meet the Coaches

The Primal Diet™ community was growing strong while Aajonus was alive as he made his circuit around the globe visiting communities, giving workshops, and doing consultations. He was in the process of creating a Primal Diet™ Retreat Center in Thailand where he could host clients, teach his iridology technique, and train Primal Diet™ coaches. You could call him from 10-12 PT to get your questions answered or run into him at a potluck.

All this came to a halt in 2013, when Aajonus fell off that balcony. The last few years, momentum has been building to revivify the Primal Diet™ Community. Several clients and students, whom have been dedicated to the diet, some for over 20-years, have come together inspired by the newer, eager, younger Primal Dieters, and rekindled the torch of Aajonus’. We are ready to pick up and carry the vision of optimal health forward now and into the future.

Who We Are

Phoenix

In 2000, I had my first consultation and hosted Aajonus’ workshop in Asheville.

As fitness trainer, bodyworker, and Ayurvedic Health Consultant, I was angry to find out that 8-glasses of water a day, a bunch of herbs, and eating lean meat were not strategies for building health.

Now I’ve been eating raw meat, raw eggs, and raw dairy for over two decades and seen the benefits of the Primal Diet™ for myself, my friends, my family, and my clients.

My wife, Avyanna, and and I had an unassisted, natural home birth and have raised our healthy son entirely on the Primal Diet.

We are grass fed beef meat and dairy farmers in Southern Appalachia, creating a Primal Diet™ retreat center and school centered around our farm to connect and support others on this journey.

Other projects include:

  • Connecting others on the Primal Diet™ to learn, share resources, and support each other on this healing journey
  • Creating the Primal Diet™ Conference
  • Writing Primal Diet™ and health articles
  • Updating PrimalDiet.net making members experience more user friendly and intuitive

In our coaching session, we will:

  • Assess your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual imbalances.
  • Discuss lifestyle changes to include eliminating toxic chemicals and toxic relationships from your environment.
  • Create a specific Primal Diet™ to fit your unique needs to include raw grass fed meats, raw dairy, raw eggs, and raw organic green vegetable juice into your diet.
  • Address the emotional and spiritual imbalances that contribute to your stress, anxiety, and dis-ease.
  • Teach you self-care tools to manage your stress and imbalances to create your own ease and well-being.
  • Ignite your creativity, passion, and purpose for life and get you back to health contributing positively to your family and your community.

I look forward to seeing and supporting your full return to life, light, and love.

Jeff

Greetings!

Firstly, a big congrats to anyone exploring this website looking to take control of their health!

I can assure you there is no one more qualified for that job than you!

With a few basic rules of the road you’ll be set for life! I’m truly honored to offer assistance to anyone who finds that concept appealing…

A little background info: 20 years ago I graduated from the school of hard knocks. It was a 3 year journey of extreme fatigue coupled with weight loss, ultimately down to 78 pounds! (not so hot for a 5’9 male human)

After 18 months of looking for answers from mainstream medicine and not finding any, I felt it was time to look outside the box and explore the world of alternative health.

After another 18 months of intriguing but only partially beneficial stepping stones, I learned of Aajonus Vonderplanitz and his Primal Diet™, an omnivorous raw diet that especially emphasizes the importance of raw animal foods. Within a very short time of being on this diet I realized I was finally about to graduate from Hard Knocks University! My body grew from approximately 80 pounds to 170 pounds of athletic weight in a mere 8 or 9 months. I could finally go outside and play again!

I was a new man!

Watch Testimonial Here

Not surprising, this experience forged a new direction in my life.

For the past 20 years I’ve been passionately observing, experimenting, and learning what best facilitates the health of living things and what most interferes with it.

I have also thoroughly enjoyed and have been honored to consult with people looking to overcome health issues and take charge of their overall well-being! If you think i can be of assistance to you please feel free to reach out to me.

Many thanks,
Jeff S.

Betsy is the granddaughter of Annie Riley Hale, author of “The Medical Voodoo”, which is a comprehensive early history of the deceptive propaganda used by the orthodox medical establishment to coerce the public into accepting the false narratives and the invasive and largely harmful “therapies” it promotes.

She was delivered at birth by Dr Henry Bieler, author of “Food Is Your Best Medicine”, and her parents raised her in accordance with his advice, which included the importance of raw animal protein, and warnings against refined sugars and salt, as well as the understanding that microbes are not the cause of disease.

After falling into a sugar addiction during her teen years, she succeeded in gaining control of her eating habits and renewing her health as a young adult.

Years later, she read “We Want To Live” and immediately recognized many of the principles she had learned as a child. She met Aajonus at one of the raw potlucks in Santa Monica, California, and was inspired to try a completely raw diet, finding it even more beneficial than what she was already doing. That was over 25 years ago, and today she continues to enjoy the results of careful food choices.

For the last several years, she has been sharing her knowledge and experience of Aajonus’ work with those who seek her guidance.

Kimberly

Kimberly is a personal development coach and the founder of Threshold of Life™, a private coaching program that helps young actors, athletes, artists, scholars, and other high achievers build the inner foundation they need to thrive under pressure and perform at their highest level.

She is also the owner of Toxicology, an environmental health consulting company that specializes in environmental health risk assessments and helping people reduce their exposure to environmental toxins.

As a Primal Diet™ coach for more than 20 years, Kimberly helps people understand why they have the diseases and health problems they have, and what they can do to take control of their health naturally.

Her own journey into natural health didn’t start that way.

Kimberly grew up in a traditional household where Western medicine was simply what everyone trusted. Early in her career, she worked for some of the largest pharmaceutical and medical device companies in the world. The belief was simple: if you were sick, there was a medication for it.

Everything changed in her mid-30s when she was introduced to Aajonus Vonderplanitz and his book, We Want to Live.

Her first thought was, “This guy is crazy.”

But there was also something about what he was saying that just felt right. It felt natural. She couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Instead of dismissing it, Kimberly started researching the science for herself. She searched for the original studies behind the claims in the book and found research that supported most of the ideas that had first seemed impossible to believe. The more she learned, the more her entire view of health began to change.

At the same time, she watched nearly everyone in her family struggle with chronic health problems, surgeries, and other medical procedures. She realized she didn’t want that future for herself.

Today, Kimberly is over 62 years old and has been following the Primal Diet™ for more than 23 years. Depending on her environment and exposure to toxins, she eats between 80% and 100% raw primal. She does not take prescription medications, enjoys excellent health, and has avoided the diseases that have affected many members of her family.

Today, Kimberly works with people who want to understand why they have the diseases and health problems they have, and what they can do to take control of their health. Her goal is to help people reduce or even eliminate symptoms by giving them the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health.

People seek Kimberly out because she has a gift for making complicated science simple. She explains things in a way that makes sense and gives people practical, real-life ways to incorporate the Primal Diet into their everyday lives.

To make the Primal Diet easier for beginners to understand, Kimberly wrote Raw to Radiant: The Secrets to a Long Life of Radiant Health Through Raw Foods, available to be purchased on Amazon here. While coaching clients, she found that many people felt overwhelmed by We Want to Live as a first step because there was so much complex information in the book.  Raw to Radiant gives readers an easy-to-understand overview of the science and principles behind the Primal Diet, making it a great first step before diving deeper into Aajonus’ work.

Chris

When I started the Primal Diet™ seven years ago, I never thought I would be doing what I am today. What started as making funny videos and documenting my eating habits led to a documentary that reached thousands of people, introducing Aajonus to many, some of whom have thanked me for exposing them to the diet and a pathway to better health.

I eventually grew tired of the old video format and pivoted to making no-flair vlogs and informational videos on my YouTube channel Eatrawmeat—Primal Diet™ Advice. I did this to share my knowledge and experience, as I had to sift and search for information to help with a few health challenges that were not well addressed in Aajonus’ works, particularly insomnia and tinnitus. I continue to document and experiment with Primal Diet protocols and recipes to provide insights to those who are interested.

A few years ago, Phoenix reached out to me via a former client, and after a few discussions with him, I have been helping him achieve our goals and vision with Primal Diet™ Coaching.

So far, the highlight has been helping organize the Annual Primal Diet™ Conference. It is a lot of work, but providing a platform of positive connections for people in the blossoming Primal Diet™ Community has led to new friendships, relationships, and job opportunities and has been a tremendously rewarding experience.

Getting to know former clients and friends of Aajonus has been deeply encouraging; being able to see the results of this diet after many years reinforces the power of raw meats and animal fats. It is a privilege and honor to have these pillars of the diet involved and learn from them. As far as I know, this conference and community is the only place where you can learn from these expert veterans. I am grateful and honored for their involvement and the opportunity to learn from them.

I look forward to continuing to provide information from my learned experience and organizing events like these so that people can make fulfilling, genuine, and positive connections in our hyperconnected world that lacks these fundamental aspects of positive community interactions and belongingness.

Mentors

Avyanna

Welcome everyone, my name is Avyanna. I’m in my late 40’s and have explored many avenues of health and wellness over the years, both personally and professionally. I am the co-founder of Primal Planitz, the annual Primal Planitz Conference and Blossom & Be Wellness Retreat. I am a mother, wife, farmer, teacher and mentor. I love learning about folk art and the history of people and place. Being surrounded by nature and spending time in quiet contemplation brings out the best in me. I flourish when conversations dive below the surface and get to the heart of things. My dream world is often vivid, rich with introspection and precognition that has guided me well throughout my life. I am highly attuned to my environment and blessed to have learned the art of scouting and tracking from a very early age. I absolutely love to dance and express myself through music but I’m still pretty terrible at partner dancing and remembering my left from my right.

In the past, I have worked as an outdoor educator, leading individual and group Nature Immersions, snowshoe treks and resort mountain hikes. I’ve worked primarily as a licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist for the past 15 years, starting off in resort spas and transitioning to private practice in 2014. I specialize in deep Swedish myofacial bodywork that supports nervous system regulation and whole body integration. My roots are based in Lomi-Lomi, Esalen, Arvigo Therapy and Koreflow. I offer Palliative Massage as an End of Life Doula for in-home hospice care as well as volunteering my services for the elderly in Assisted Living.

As a certified Breathwork Facilitator, I hold the space for inner-knowing to emerge and assist integration through trauma-informed bodywork, emotional release and Process Art. In my Higher Alignment coaching, I help people discover their creative uniqueness, inner beauty and path toward purpose and uplifting relationships. As a Primal Planitz mentor, I offer my experience as a woman on the Primal Diet who has navigated a decade of life growing a terrain perspective on health and healing. As a farmer working to transition and rehabilitate livestock so they can thrive in a naturally reared model of health and raise their offspring in optimal ways. As a mother who conceived naturally at 39, was blessed with a remarkably healthy pregnancy and gave birth unassisted at 40 years old with ease. I have lived through the learning curves and social challenges of raising a continuum child on the Primal Diet and can speak to the resilience and autonomy this creates in one’s being. Our vibrancy, clarity and aliveness is undeniable and it beckons curiosity and awe amongst naysayers.

I had been following a Nourishing Traditions diet for years before discovering the Primal Diet at 34. I was introduced to it shortly after Aajonus died in 2013, while dating the man who became my best friend, husband, and father of my child. I was curious and adventurous but had a lot of questions around safety and sourcing. I had healed my dog from the symptoms of Lyme’s disease in 2008 with raw meat, fat, organs and tripe, so I knew it was powerful medicine but I didn’t know how it would work for me. Phoenix helped me navigate fears and led by example. I valued not being pressured to conform to principles that weren’t tested by my own lived experience. Dogma doesn’t sit well with me and the fanboy fever that I saw on social media back then wasn’t very appealing. Instead, I had the freedom to live into it, experiment, and find real results for myself. Phoenix beautifully honored my need for autonomy and this golden thread continues to weave itself through the fabric of our relationship to this day. Over the years, I have made my fair share of mistakes and have learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t.

With proper nourishment I continue to re-energize, restore and re-build my adrenal glands, endocrine system and nervous system. I have overcome my hypersensitivities while retaining highly attuned senses. I am no longer debilitated by environmental situations beyond my control or the pervasive fear of toxicity. Being on this diet has given me many opportunities to radically love myself, let go of vanity and ego attachments, release unhealthy relationships, and deeply nourish myself on a soul level. I see with clarity how addiction has been woven into my body throughout this lifetime and how the experiences I’ve lived through have shaped me. I am able to sit with this discomfort and observe the pain of those underpinnings. I know that when I crave things that are not good for me it is an emotional response to unmet needs. My experience on the Primal Diet has undeniably been a personal growth process.

I have continued to get stronger and more adaptable over time, especially through pregnancy, birth and postpartum, and now as I journey through peri-menopause. Being a highly sensitive human in this world has not been easy. Eliminating almost all fruit and significantly increasing the amount of butter I eat has been the largest influence in shifting anxiety, mood swings and depression. Butter makes everything better. Naps have been essential. Waking up at dawn with a planned schedule and settling down at dusk for a full night’s sleep has been a game changer. Increasing the amount of red meat and liver I consume while making sure to eat a full meat meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner has been essential for emotional regulation and consistent energy.

These days, I’m focusing my energy on the daily tasks of managing our farm, food production, homeschooling a vivacious learner, developing programming and experiential learning for our community, putting together an updated recipe book for publication, mastering time honored traditions and finding more people who enrich my life and inspire me. I look forward to building a brighter future and I am so grateful you all are here to lend a hand. Lets create a legacy worth living!

Avyanna mentors individuals and couples who are committed to growing themselves and their families.

Sam

I’ve been experimenting with the Primal Diet™ since I was 21 after reading a book called Awaken the Genius. In the book, the author explains how to open your mind to reach your fullest potential. At the end of the book he talked about eating a clean vegan diet. It made me realize that something was not right with the way that I felt and it didn’t make sense for me to feel tired after eating. I would catch myself staring and daydreaming all the time. I read the ingredients on the food I ate and it just seemed crazy that I was consuming all these chemicals. I decided to try that and eat as healthy as I knew how at the time for a week to see how I felt. Back then I ate the same as everyone else, but after eating this way for a week I felt so much better that I decided to eat a vegan diet from then on. I picked up a few books on vegetarianism and learned more.

After 3 years of eating a clean vegan diet I bought a book about eating a Raw Vegan Diet and that made a lot of sense to me so I tried that diet. I only ate raw organic fresh fruit, vegetables, and nuts. Some amazing things happened when I did this diet! All of my senses clarified and became sharp. I felt like I sobered up, a fog was lifted off of my mind, I became more conscious, I felt a sense of depression fade away, I felt an inner peace, and my self-confidence was raised.

But the drawback was that the food I was eating did not have enough calories, fat, or protein to be sustainable. I was very thin and experienced lowered stamina when doing physical activity. My muscles would burn and felt weak when I rode my bike. After 10 months on the raw vegan diet I found that I was hungry all of the time and felt like I could never catch up with my food intake needs.

I began researching raw vegan information to figure out how to solve the issues that I was having. It was recommended to eat more vegetables or nuts or certain combinations of foods, but none of these worked. I searched and searched on the internet and I eventually came across an interview of Aajonus Vonderplanitz online. I liked being vegan so I thought he was crazy haha! I knew I was onto something with this rawfood stuff, I just wasn’t getting results with the vegan path so I thought to myself “Maybe humans are supposed eat meat.” I bought his book We Want to Live in 2005, which describes the Primal Diet™, I tried his diet full on. I gained strength, stamina, put on healthy weight, and became more amiable. Plus I maintained all the clarity of mind benefits the I had eating the raw vegan diet.

I have been eating this diet for the last 19 years. Every year I am feeling healthier than the year before it!

Tom

Hi, my name is Tom.

My son, Hoyt, is in the picture next to me. I am 57 years old. I have been on the primal diet for about 26 years.

It was introduced to me through a friend, Phoenix, at a place called Earthaven, (of which I am a founder of) in western North Carolina, where we both lived at the time.

Earthaven, an intentional community on 320 acres of wooded undeveloped land, required lots of labor to get underway. Manly tree felling at first. I had the skills for the project from being in construction since a teen. The enthusiasm came from the need for a life style change through an alternative approach. The Primal Diet™ was ideal for me (optimal health, more stamina, quick recovery from injury). And no cooking. Which I didn’t want to waste my time on anyway.

Aajonus actually came to visit back in the day. Back then there were more Primals in the community than now.

A highlight of my life is the birth of my son. His mom was introduced to the diet when she met me and included (certain parts) into her diet. Hoyt is a living example of the benefits of the diet. Bottle fed on raw milk. He eats raw eggs and meat. But not always. He’s a thriving young man, and adapts to all kinds of situations. I’m eternally grateful to Aajonus and Phoenix and all those those who are spreading the word.

Three epiphanies that have come to me in my midlife are:

1) The myth of contagion 2) the heart is not a pump, and 3) it’s none of my business what you or anyone else think of me.

I can share what I know and how it’s helped me.

Eat fat and be happy!
